East Atchison’s Fall Home-coming is Friday, October 9, 2026. The students at Fairfax and Tarkio High Schools will be participating in a number of activities that week, which will end with the homecoming football game Friday night and queen and king coronation. This year’s events include:

TARKIO

This year’s THS Fall Home-coming queen and king candidates are Bella Bywater, Grace Caudill, and Bailey Wennihan, Jeremy Bomar, Parker Livengood, and Brody Wennihan. Attendants are: juniors – Taya Windham and Kaiden Nelson; sophomores – Gracie Walker and Josh Schlueter; and freshmen – Mikayla Windham and Brody Anderson.

The 2026 THS Fall Homecoming Theme is “Toon Into Homecoming.” The classes have picked themes to go along with it: seniors – Scooby Doo; juniors – Looney Tunes; sophomores – Tom & Jerry; freshmen – Spongebob Squarepants; eighth graders – Care Bears; seventh graders – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles; and sixth graders – Blue’s Clues.

Dress-Up Days: Monday – Jersey Day (wear your favorite college or professional team jersey); Tuesday – Cartoon Day (dress like a cartoon character); Wednesday – Teacher/Student Swap (dress like your favorite teacher); Thursday – Adam Sandler/Crazy Day (empty your closet day); and Friday – Wolves Spirit Day (wear East Atchison attire).

Window Painting: Seniors – A Place On Main; juniors – Farmers State Bank; sophomores – Post Office; freshmen – Rogers Pharmacy; eighth graders – White Tees; seventh graders – Soaks Em Clean; and sixth graders – Atchison County Veterinary Clinic.

Events: Class Contests – Monday – Tug O War; Tuesday – Skills Contest (all fall sports); Wednesday – Balloon Toss/Water Relay; and Thursday – Seat Belt Relay; and Friday – Parade Float Contest

• Jersey Auction/Color War/Bonfire – Jerseys will be auctioned off on Wednesday, October 7, at 7:00 p.m. at the Fairfax football field. The minimum bid is $25 and maximum bid is $100. Proceeds will be split evenly between Fairfax and Tarkio with Tarkio proceeds going to National Honor Society. The color war will be held after the auction and then the pep rally/bonfire will end the night.

• Parade – The EA Fall Homecoming Parade will be held on Main Street in Tarkio Friday, October 9, beginning at 1:00 p.m. (line-up begins at the school at 12:45 p.m.).

• Pep Rally – The pep rally will take place at the football field in Tarkio following the parade.

• Football Game – The football game will be held Friday night, beginning at 7:00 p.m. at M. David Palmeiro Stadium in Tarkio. Performances by the Fairfax and Tarkio combined bands, and the East Atchison cheerleaders and dance team will all take place at half time. The coronation will follow the game.

FAIRFAX

The Fairfax High School Fall Homecoming queen and king candidates are Chloe Vernon, Holly Litherbury, Erin Eyman, Trenton Frohn, Alex Martin, and Mason Kingery. Attendants are: juniors – Elsey Rogers and Wyatt Landess; sophomores – Brenna Kingery and Deyton Burke; and freshmen – Delaney Oswald and Geb Burke.

They will also have dress-up days and class contests, which were to be voted on after the newspaper went to press.
