Thanks to a partnership with the Fairfax High School ag department, Fairfax FFA Chapter, and Community Hospital-Fairfax in Fairfax, Missouri, a portion of the hospital’s ground is becoming both a hands-on classroom and a valuable agricultural resource.

Last week, students drilled a mix of alfalfa and oats on the hospital’s front lawn. Together, these crops can help improve soil health, reduce erosion, support weed management, and create nutrient-rich animal feed. Even more exciting, students will have the opportunity to study how this farming practice impacts the soil over time, gaining valuable hands-on learning experience right on the hospital’s front lawn. The CH-F staff are honored to support these hardworking students and grateful for their commitment to agriculture, education, and stewardship of the land. Sometimes extraordinary care extends beyond healthcare. Sometimes it means investing in our soil, our students, and the future of our community. (Submitted by Community Hospital-Fairfax)
