Mary Kathryn “Kay” Jackson, the daughter of Frederick John and Mary Kathryn (Powers) Moore, was born March 3, 1947, in Hamburg, Iowa. She attended Hamburg High School and later received her GED. Kay went on to attend Lake Washington Institute of Technology in Kirkland, Washington, where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree.
On January 21, 1963, Kay was united in marriage to Cletus C. Jackson, Sr. They became the proud parents of three children, Cletus C., Jr., Dianna, and Melissa. They made their home in Omaha, Nebraska, for a brief period before moving to Snoqualmie, Washington, in 1968 where they raised their family for 33 years. In 2001, they made their way back to Rock Port, Missouri, to enjoy retirement together with their loved ones close by. Cletus passed away on September 21, 2010.
Kay began her working career with Weyerhaeuser, was employed as a surgical technician, and then eventually retired. She later decided to keep herself busy by making the best bread for Trail’s End/Subway of Rock Port.
Kay managed to live a very full life that consisted of Scrabble matches, pedicures, shopping, daily crossword puzzles, watching westerns or game shows, card/board games, bingo dates, collecting tea pots, visiting friends, and sweet treat adventures. She enjoyed spending time with her family the most, and one could say she truly lived for those she loved.
Kay passed away surrounded by her loved ones on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at her home in Rock Port, at the age of 79.
Besides her parents and husband, Cletus C. Jackson, Sr., Kay was preceded in death by children, Melissa Jackson and Cletus C. (Camille) Jackson, Jr.; granddaughter, Jessica Jackson; and siblings, Neva Burroughs and Homer Moore. Survivors include daughter, Dianna Miller, Rock Port; grandchildren, Katherine (Seth) McEnaney, Ashley Gayman, Damion Jackson, Danielle Rathie, and Jordan Jackson; great-grandchildren, Jayme, Camden, Bryna, Maci, Everett, Kash, Kenzi, Micaria, Kage, and Beau; and numerous nieces and nephews.
