As many Atchison County citizens know, the elections are coming up this November. Lots of bills and Missouri state laws will be voted on. Numerous items on the ballot can and will affect how the state runs as a whole unit. Including Missouri Amendment 7, Missouri Amendment 7 states that it would create the Show-me Prosperity Fund, which would be invested by the state with the goal of generating earnings that would replace tax revenue and eventually state taxes.

This Amendment would solely be focused on eliminating state taxes, including individual income taxes, the state sales and use tax, the state corporate income taxes and all other state-imposed taxes. If this Amendment was enacted, it could potentially lower the amount of taxes each working family pays yearly.

There are many benefits and worries that involve this Amendment. Some of the worries may include that this Amendment will not impact income and state-imposed taxes immediately. And that the Amendment could take years for taxpayers to see any effect on their yearly tax bill. Some worry that the Amendment may never have any effect on income taxes at all. The Amendment does not specify a dedicated source of money for initially funding the Amendment either. However, state officials have high hopes that eventually working families and individuals in the state won’t have to be burdened with state-imposed taxes if this Amendment is enacted. One concern is that the amendment does not identify a dedicated source or money to initially fund the proposal. The General Assembly could appropriate money to the fund, but it has not been guaranteed how much money would be provided or where that money would come from.

Amendment 7, one of many laws and bills that will be on the ballot in November of 2026 this year, is an important and prominent Amendment that will be present that would target and affect the people of Missouri. So this November make sure you go and vote on Amendment 7.
