As freight trains roared through town and local farmers harvested their crops in the surrounding fields, the small-in-numbers but mighty Watson Quilters of Watson, Missouri, worked throughout the afternoon Friday, October 23, on a Christmas quilt top. Donna Whelan, Kay Gibson, Holly Holmes, and Linda Viets had three sewing machines and a steam iron going and by the end of their workday, the quilt was half finished. At this rate, one more good work session should see the quilt completed. It will be sent to Tammy Oakes to finish. (Submitted photo)
