• Schleisman White and Associates PC in Tarkio had its Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting and Open House on Friday, December 10. Cutting the ribbon was Art White of Schleisman White.
• Letters to Santa: From Amy Higgins – “My Christmas list. I want a doll with stickers and skates with stickerers. I want a big bear. Can I have a big big Dolphin? You can have a big Dolphin. I want a big cat. Can I have white and doll? I want snow. Caitlin wants a doll with stickers and skates with stamp.”

• An exhibition of prints by the noted Russian-French artist Marc Chagall is on display at the Mule Barn on the Tarkio College campus. The exhibit includes original prints, some of which are signed, and all are being offered for sale in moderate price ranges. The exhibition is from the Ferdin and Roten Galleries, Baltimore, Maryland.
• In the First National “Teller Tells”: “Our Santa Claus is really going to strut this year when he makes his annual visit to our lobby to greet the young people of the area. He has a brand new velvet suit with white fur collar. He is going to the beauty parlor for the fitting of a new hair piece and his whiskers are much fuller and more curly than they have been in some previous years, but he will be the same old Santa.”

• Always a highlight in the observance of the Christmas season in this community, the annual vesper service presented by the Tarkio College music department Sunday at the United Presbyterian Church was an impressive candlelight service.
• The cold wave which hit this territory brought sub-zero temperatures to Tarkio this week. The government instruments at the U.S. communication station at the airport registered 14 degrees below zero at 7:30 o’clock Wednesday morning which is the low for this season. The noon reading yesterday was 18 degrees above zero.
