The William White Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution meeting was called to order by Regent, Janet Watkins, for an 11 am meeting at Breadeaux Pizza in Mound City, on May 3, 2016, with 7 members present. Regent Watkins led the members in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America and singing of the National Anthem. Prayer was given by Chaplain, Faire Schoonover. A variety of pizzas were served by Breadeaux Pizza.
The DAR ritual was completed by the members, reciting the American’s Creed, Preamble of Allegiance to the State of Missouri and Preamble to the Constitution of the United States of America.
Chaplain Schoonover read the devotion, “Best Guarantee Ever” with Scripture reading from John 6:47.
Regent Watkins read the President General’s Message – “Honoring our Heritage”. The Indian report was read by June Markt. Janice Phelps read an article on Women’s Issues.
The minutes of the April 9, 2016, were reviewed and approved. The Treasurer’s report was presented and filed for audit.
A memorial service for deceased members Beverly Gerdes and Iona White, was given by Chaplain Schoonover. Beverly Sly Gerdes, from Fairfax, was the last Charter member of the William White Chapter of DAR. She was born October 27, 1923 and passed away July 23, 2015. Iona Gomel White, from Craig, was born July 1, 1931, and passed away September 10, 2015. Chaplain Schoonover read their obituaries and included Scriptures from John 14:1, 4-6; Thessalonians 4:13-18 and II Timothy 2:11-12A.
Chaplain Schoonover then led the installation of new officers as follows:
Annamarie Hunziger, Regent; Janet Watkins, Vice Regent; Janice Phelps, Recording Secretary; Susan Rippen, Treasurer and Karen Fischer, Chaplain.
After all old and new business items were discussed, Regent Watkins adjourned the meeting.
