Chris Easley, Suzanne Fentiman, and Sheridan Mires, retirees from Fairfax R-3, were honored at a gathering of school staff and guests on May 16, 2016, at the home of Aimeé Seymour.
Chris has faithfully served Fairfax for 14 years with his custodial and maintenance expertise.
Suzanne completes nine years of teaching kindergarten at Fairfax and inspiring patriotism and school spirit in her students as well as laying an excellent foundation for beginning reading and math.
Sheridan has taught 5th and 6th grade and served as Title I teacher for a total of 19 years. She has most recently used her expertise for one-on-one and small groups to give students extra help to succeed academically in their classrooms.
Annie Schmerber, art teacher for nine years, is leaving the district to take a position in the Mound City school.
Michael Carpenter, physical education teacher for five years, has accepted a position at East Buchanan.
Dr. Michael Garrett and Mr. Dustin Barnes both spoke and thanked the individuals for their excellent service to the district. The retirees received plaques noting their years of service at Fairfax R-3. Gifts from CTA and donations were distributed to the honorees.
After enjoying a potluck luncheon, cake and punch were served and the staff enjoyed celebrating the end of the 2015-2016 school year.
