The 24th Annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive is in the history books. Carriers from Tarkio and Fairfax and across the country performed double duty on their routes Saturday, May 14. Not only did they deliver mail, but the letter carriers and volunteers collected bags of non-perishable food items set out by mailboxes.
Carriers from Tarkio and Fairfax reported collecting over 350 pounds of food. The donations were distributed to the Tarkio/Fairfax/Westboro Food Pantry in Tarkio, Missouri.
The Stamp Out Hunger effort is the nation’s largest single day food drive and is one of many ways Second Harvest Community Food Bank partners with area communities to help individuals and families meet their basic needs.
Throughout the Second Harvest Community Food Bank service area a total of 16 communities participated and collected over 53,500 pounds of food, and is a direct reflection of the generosity of the communities in Northwest Missouri.
