Josie Watkins was selected to sing The National Anthem for a 2016 college world series game at the end of this month.
Josie has sung before multiple Blue Jay events and the reaction is always the same…. goose bumps. She gives such feeling to our nation’s anthem that you actually get goose bumps.
The applicants were required to submit a video of their a cappella rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner. A group of judges then reviewed all the submissions and picked the top 30 applicants they felt deserved a live audition. Josie was one of these 30 vocalists chosen to advance to the next level and auditioned at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha on Saturday, May 7. Josie and the others auditioning were told that of those 30, only 17 would be selected to perform at a game. Josie and her family recently received the astonishing news that she was chosen and will be singing at game number eight on June 21. Josie’s mother, Sarah, expressed that Josie is very excited to be performing for a crowd that could contain around 20,000 people.
