On Wednesday, June 1, ten local women were awarded prize money for their various accomplishments in the MSUSBC Women’s Championship bowling tournament. The tournament was held on weekends from March 12 through April 17 in Joplin, Mo. Rock Port was represented by eight teams that bowled on April 2 and 3. Jo Stevens presented the prize money. Jo is a Missouri State Bowling Association Board Member and also the President of the Rock Port Bowling Association.
The awards started with Stacie Barbee, she received $435.80 for 2nd place (All Events, Div. 2 – 149 & Under, Handicapped), 7th place (Singles, Div. 2 – 149 & Under, Handicapped) and 13th place (Doubles, Div. 2 – 299 & Under, Handicapped). Sue Owen was awarded $94.25 for 50th place (All Events, Div. 2 – 149 & Under, Handicapped) and 14th place (Doubles, Div. 2 – 299 & Under, Handicapped). Jennifer Wood won $174.67 for 22nd place (Singles, Div. 2 – 149 & Under, Handicapped) and 14th place (Doubles, Div. 2 – 299 & Under, Handicapped) and Debbie True was given $34.70 for 71st place (Singles, Div. 2 – 149 & Under, Handicapped). Julie and Katie Burke were both given $32.50 for 41st place (Doubles, Div. 2 – 299 & Under, Handicapped). Nancy Daugherty won $50 for 26th place (Doubles, Div. 2 – 299 & Under, Handicapped). Natalie Harmon was awarded with $267.50 for 3rd place (Doubles, Div. 2 – 299 & Under, Handicapped). Ashley Cook was given $310 for 3rd place (Doubles, Div. 2 – 299 & Under, Handicapped) and 9th place (All Events, Div. 2 – 149 & Under, Handicapped). The last prize money recipient was Jo Stevens herself with $172 for 15th place (Singles, Div. 2 – 149 & Under, Handicapped) and 26th place (Doubles, Div. 2 – 299 & Under, Handicapped). The total amount of prize money awarded amongst the ten women was $1,603.92.
