A funeral service for C. Duane Broermann was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at St. John’s Lutheran Church near Westboro, Missouri. Interment was held at St. John’s Cemetery. Military rites were under the auspices of Allen-Schiffern American Legion Post #199. Reverend Franz Brandenburg and Reverend Richard Pearson officiated. Services were under the direction of Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.
Duane, the son of William Henry and Caroline (Kemper) Broermann, was born March 2, 1930, in Westboro, Missouri. He attended Yale Country School, northwest of Tarkio, and Tarkio High School, graduating in 1948. Duane attended Tarkio College for one year. On March 18, 1952, he entered the United States Army and faithfully served his country for two years, during the Korean War, receiving his honorable discharge on February 27, 1954.
On June 20, 1954, Duane was united in marriage to Rowena Jones at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Westboro. They made their home in the Westboro area, where they farmed the family farm and became the parents of one son, Don.
Duane was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church, where he served as a former president of the church council and enjoyed singing in the choir for many years. Duane served as a 4-H member and leader. He loved to golf, bowl, play ping pong, softball, baseball, and basketball. Duane passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016, at Shenandoah Medical Center, Shenandoah, at the age of 86.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include wife, Rowena; son, Don Broermann and wife, Mitzi, Jefferson City, Missouri; grandsons, Tyler Broermann, Jefferson City, and Eric Runde and wife, Rachel, Albuquerque, New Mexico; brother, Gene Broermann and wife, Mary Lou, Westboro; and numerous other family members.
