The mail found its oldest continual subscriber. Charles A. Hall, 92 Rock Port has been subscribing to the Mail since 1892. Hall was born in 1874 on his parents farm North of Rock Port. Hall was in 8th grade in 1891 and was required to bring articles about the county in for class. This is when Hall bought his first subscription 74 years later and retired from farming he still enjoys reading the mail.

Cindy Walker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Walker, placed 13th in the 49th National Spelling Bee contest in Washington D.C. The competition was said to be the toughest in 20 years and had a record number of participants.

Freeman Health Care Services Inc. held their grand opening and open house. Freeman has been in operation a little over three months and offers a full range of home health care services.

Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting for “Little Hobby Shop”. Glen Littles owner has models galore and a working train display. The “Little Hobby Shop” also features trains, planes, and trophies.

Kalen Smith, son of Garrett and Janette Smith, graduated from the US Military Academy, West Point, NY. He was awarded a gold wreath signifying the Superintendent’s Award for Achievement, a silver wreath signifying Academic Recognition for QPA greater than 3.67, and Colonel John A. Robenson Memorial Award, given to the outstanding player on the Sprint Football team. He obtained a degree in Engineering Management and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army.
