The Rock Port Park Board Meeting on May 23, 2016 was called to order by Lisa Farmer. Members present were Jill Lager, Tawni Ellis, Jim Skillen, Sheena Roup, Katey Kroger, Tisha Jackson and Shauna Famer. Also present was Todd Stevens.
The minutes from the May 4 meeting were read, Lisa motioned and Jill seconded and all were in favor–minutes approved.
Jill moved to appoint Lisa Farmer as Park Board President. Shauna seconded. All votes aye.
Shauna moved to appoint Jill Lager as Park Board Vice President. Katey seconded. All votes aye.
Sheena moved to appoint Shauna Farmer as Park Board Secretary/Treasurer. Katey seconded. All votes aye.
Mike Farmer will donate a sign for the new handicap swing that was purchased by the Girls Scouts. The sign will ask for visitors at the park to respect that this swing is for handicapped children only.
Sheena motioned and Shauna seconded that the Park Board Calendar and Park Maintenance Expectations document be adopted as a formal agreement between the park board and the city. This document will be updated throughout the year to meet the needs and concerns that arise. All votes aye.
2016 Pool Season:
The pool will open on Sunday, May 28 at 1:00 p.m. Swim team will be practicing from 10 am to noon during the weekdays. Adult swim will be held from 12 -1 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7-8 p.m. Monday through Thursday. If no swimmers arrive by 7:15 p.m. for the evening swim the pool will be closed to the public. Pool parties and swim meets would take precedence over adult swim.
Jill motioned and Sheena seconded to give the following City of Rock Port employees pool passes: Ashtin Paris, Clayton Amthor, Damien Pritt, and Trevor Hale. All votes aye.
Madison Taylor and Brady Minter will be added to the substitute list of guards. Guards will be emptying trash cans on Mondays and Thursdays each week. They will also check the park bathrooms (not including south ball field). Laminated signs will be placed in each bathroom to contact the pool bath house or City Hall if a restroom needs attention.
Swim Lessons will take place Tuesday, July 5 through Saturday, July 9. The lessons will be in the evening Monday through Friday and will finish up on Saturday morning the 9. Sign up dates will be announced soon.
Lisa motioned and Jill seconded to move pool parties to $75. All votes aye. Lifeguards are paid separately at $10 per hour. A second guard is needed if there are more than 15 swimmers.
Park Cameras:
Shauna motioned and Jill seconded to install another camera at the park. All votes aye. Midwest Data will install a used camera with a 4 channel band.
Shelter House Bulletin Board Enclosures:
Lisa talked to Burke’s Lumber about making enclosures for reserved signs. After talking to Burke’s it was decided that it was more cost effective to order an enclosure.
Painting Bids:
Shauna will talk to the student group that is going to Italy and see if they would like to paint to help raise money for their trip.
Work order: Some of the boards on the picnic tables in the concession area need to be replaced.
