This Independence Day gives us a three-day weekend to celebrate our red, white and blue patriotism.We love America’s birthday.
Our flag is displayed with great pride everywhere. The red stripes of our flag are a tribute to the blood of the patriots and pioneers who fought and toiled to claim and tame this land and a tribute to the blood of those who have died defending freedom ever since then. The white stripes signify the purity of our founding principles. The stars in the field of blue in the left corner of our flag represent the new constellation that was formed when America became free.
Freedom is the greatest treasure of human beings. Sometimes this is taken for granted because the freedom we have, the freedom we use and know was dearly paid for a very long time ago. Twenty-four decades ago the fires of freedom and liberty were ignited here in America.
The Declaration of Independence did not set us free on July 4th, 1776. Freedom fighters sacrificed and died for 11 years to make us free. We also fought and won a second war for independence in 1812.
We must always remember that freedom has never been, nor will it ever be free. And let us always remember this is the land of the free because of the brave.
Our bold rebellion against oppression set in motion the course of events which made the world a better place. Because we have freedom, because of our deeply held belief in it, and our unwavering devotion to it, America is the greatest place on earth.
Our forward looking and upward reaching philosophy gave us a vision of a better future and propelled us to do better, to be better, to design our destiny and pursue lofty goals.
America’s greatness and the reason for it comes from the core beliefs and the foundation on which our country was built. The birth certificate of these United States contains has these powerful, inspiring words:
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. – That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men . . .”
We created government to protect our God given rights. This is why America was, and is still the shining city on a hill.
This is the greatest country on earth because of what we believe in and what we stand for. We believe in justice and the right of it. We believe in goodness and the might of it. We never shrink from a challenge because there’s pride in overcoming it. We extend a helping hand with words of cheer. We hold dear our hope, our faith, and our patriotism. Here, freedom for mankind is very, very clear. We stand for liberty and justice for all. We are the United States of America.
Today we honor the patriots and pioneers who fought and toiled to claim and tame this land. Today we ask God to bless America.
