The regular meeting of the Tarkio R-I Board of Education was held June 14, 2016, in the board meeting room at Tarkio High School. The meeting was called to order by President Steve Klute at 7:48 p.m. Board members present were Chris Yates, Corey Lesher, Jamie Barnett, Lydia Hurst, Bruce Lang, and Diane Hicks, secretary. Rachel Graves came in at 7:56 p.m. Also present were Tarkio R-I Superintendent Dr. Pat Martin, Tarkio High School Principal Luke Cox, Tarkio Elementary Principal Dr. Deborah Taylor, Carrie Livengood, Suzanne Brought, Billie Schnei­der, Lois Wiley, Blu Dow, and Dustin Lambertsen.
The agenda with the addition of item I (high school handbook) was approved, as well as the May 19, 2016, meeting minutes. The transfer of incidental funds to special revenue to pay certificated salaries was approved, as well as district obligations.
Carrie Livengood, Special Education Director, gave a detailed summary of summer school, which had an attendance of 30-35 students.
Principal Cox reported on the technology surveys. A total of 83% of the students felt satisfied with the 1 to 1 technology. He also reported that the athletic handbook is to be included with the student handbook for the upcoming school year. The board members voted to approve the career ladder handbook.
Wrestling Coach Bryant Hummel has researched several options for a new wrestling mat. The board members voted to purchase a wrestling mat from Resilite Sports Products, Inc. for $11,187.04.
The board approved the professional development handbook. Dr. Martin presented the options of holding graduation on Sunday, May 14, 2017, at 2 p.m. or Friday night, May 12, 2017, at 7 p.m. All board members voted to approve the Friday night ceremony, May 12, 2017, at 7 p.m.
Ag teacher and FFA Advisor Dustin Lambertsen requested approval for Colin Joesting to attend Agrivision Equipment Group and NWMSU Precision Ag Academy at the NWMSU campus. The board approved the overnight trip. Mr. Lambertsen brought to the board information requesting to move forward to create an Agriculture Education Livestock Learning Lab.
Dr. Martin made the recommendation for the current administration to receive a 2.1% increase. The same as all certified and classified staff. All board members voted to approve the 2.1% increase. Dr. Martin also made the recommendation to set the salary for Dr. Taylor for the 2016-17 school year at $75,000. All board members voted to approve the salary of $75,000 for Dr. Taylor.
The additions to the handbook will be E-Cigs/Vaporizing under the tobacco use policy already in place. The EA Athletics/Activities handbook will be within the student handbook. A Senior Trip policy addition of the school district covering all costs for paras or female chaperones in the future will also be included.
The meeting moved into closed session at 8:52 p.m. to record and vote pursuant to RSMo.610.021 for the purpose of discussing personnel. The meeting came out of closed session at 9:08 p.m.

• Dr. Martin, Mr. Cox, and Mrs. Livengood given a 2.1% raise, which is the same that certified/non-certified staff were given
• Dr. Taylor contract approved and will be paid $75,000 for the 2016-17 school year
• Mr. Mark Staten approved as high school teacher and National Honor Society Advisor
• Tammy Aksamit approved as elementary teacher, assistant junior high girls’ coach, and weight room supervisor during the school year
• Bryant Hummel approved as Summer Weight Room coordinator, assistant baseball coach
• Melissa White approved as a Paraprofessional
• Amy Haddock approved as Senior Class Advisor
• Purchasing a new wrestling mat
At 9:35 p.m., the meeting was adjourned.
