The Fairfax FFA Chapter held its annual FFA Banquet May 4, 2016.
The 2015-2016 officers led the opening ceremonies, and President Halle Sutter welcomed members and guests. FFA member Conner Marshall gave the invocation before the meal. Members and guests enjoyed a slide show prepared by Chapter Reporter Dakota Allen.
The chapter scrapbook was dedicated to Dean Burman in recognition of his donation of popcorn for the concession stands.
Greenhand degrees were awarded to Zachery Garrison, Tyler Brown, Max Hopkins, and Jordan Sutter. This year’s Star Greenhand was Tyler Brown.
Chapter Degrees were awarded to Tacy Mitchell, Leslie Bradley, Conner Marshall, Shane Wallace, Dylan Jeffords, Jonathan Brown, Mickayla Bowling, and Kaitlyn Gibbons.
This year’s Star Chapter Farmer was Mickayla Bowling.
Leadership Awards were given to: Tyler Brown, Zachery Garrison, Max Hopkins, and Jordan Sutter, freshmen; Mickayla Bowling, Leslie Bradley, Tacy Mitchell, and Conner Marshall, sophomores; Dakota Allen, Alyssa Garrison and Alyssa Beck, juniors; and Garrett Ball, Halle Sutter, Ryan Hopkins, and Emma Morris, seniors.
Scholarship Awards were presented to: Tyler Brown, freshman; Tacy Mitchell, sophomore; Dakota Allen, junior; and Ryan Hopkins, senior.
The Blue Jacket Award was presented by Angela Fields to Alyssa Garrison.
This year’s Top Fruit Salesperson was Leslie Bradley.
Dakota Allen, Kaitlyn Gibbons, Conner Marshall and Mickayla Bowling were recognized for their success at Area I Speech. Dakota was also chosen to be the Area I Parliamentarian.
Mr. Jeremy Palmer, Advisor, recognized FFA members for their many activities.
Ryan Hopkins, Dakota Allen, and Conner Marshall participated in State FFA Choir. Ryan Hopkins also participated in State Talent. Halle Sutter, Garrett Ball, Kolbe Cooper, Alyssa Garrison, Leslie Bradley, Tacy Mitchell, Mickayla Bowling, Tyler Brown, and Zachery Garrison also attended the state convention, helping out in courtesy corps and backstage at the convention.
The Fairfax state trapshooting team consisted of Alyssa Beck, Leslie Bradley, Jordan Sutter, Max Hopkins, and Tyler Brown. They competed with 1,025 other FFA members from across the state at the state meet April 30, in Linn Creek, Missouri. Other members of the Fairfax trapshoot team are Zachery Garrison, Tacy Mitchell, and Jonathan Brown.
Honorary Chapter Degrees were awarded to Traci Cooper, Jim Ball, Tim and Leslie Sutter, Robin and Mike Lewis, Kelly and Billy Morris, Wally Riebesell, and Phillip Cooper.
Halle Sutter and Garrett Ball were recognized for receiving the State Farmer Degree.
The 2015-2016 officers were: Halle Sutter, president; Ryan Hopkins, vice-president; Emma Morris, secretary; Alyssa Garrison, treasurer; Dakota Allen, reporter; and Alyssa Beck, sentinel. They installed the 2016-2017 officers: Dakota Allen, president; Alyssa Garrison, vice-president; Alyssa Beck, secretary; Mickayla Bowling, treasurer; Tacy Mitchell and Leslie Bradley, reporters; Gage Crowley, sentinel; and Conner Marshall, chaplain.
Closing ceremonies were conducted by the 2016-2017 officers.
