Brad Mathers of Tarkio has moved his Midwest Trophies business from Burlington Junction, Missouri, to 417 Main Street, Tarkio, and the shop is now open for business. A grand opening is planned for later this month.
Purchased from Scott and Donna Campbell over 20 years ago, the business has kept Brad busy over the years. Scott helped him learn the trade in the beginning. Brad has implemented new technology as it’s come along to help him put out products much faster and more efficiently. Though most trophies are now plastic, he can still get the cast iron figurines. His dad once joked that Brad’s business was one giant erector set with all the pieces and parts eventually coming together.
Besides around 15 to 16 school districts, Midwest Trophies services the award needs of many businesses and organizations in the area and also does custom work for individuals. Brad can make trophies and plaques, etch glass (goblets, mirrors, etc.), burn words and pictures into wood, and engrave little charms and acrylic. You name it, he can probably do it. He has engraved on gunstocks, a tree stump, and even swords. He’s had to work on things as tiny as one inch by one inch up to a giant silver cup that was a golf trophy. He has engraved medical ID bracelets and also makes ADA signs with braille. There is something new every day.
Brad said he’s very happy to now be so close to home and has already seen his customer base grow. The shop is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. into the late afternoon/early evening hours. People are welcome to stop by and say hello or place an order or call 660-254-2388.
