Have you taken some great photos while visiting Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge? The refuge and Friends of Squaw Creek invite you to submit your photos to the 2016 Squaw Creek Photo Contest. Photographers can submit up to five entries in six different categories: Wildlife, Plants and Fungi, Landscape and Scenic, People in Nature, Youth, and Professional. Entries will be accepted through Friday, September 2, 2016. During September and October, all entries will be displayed in the auditorium and on the refuge’s Facebook page, where visitors can vote for People’s Choice.
Winning photos will receive certificates or ribbons and be displayed throughout the year at the Squaw Creek NWR Visitor Contact Station and other public locations. Check out photo contest details, rules, and regulations at the office or go online at http://1.usa.gov/28PL5V4.
The refuge will feature a Wildlife Habitat program July 14. The program will focus on refuge wildlife, where they live, and the signs they leave behind. Learn which trees grow on the refuge and how to identify them during Tremendous Trees on July 28. Youth will learn about pollinators, observe them in action, and learn what they can do to help during Pollinators & Their Plants on August 11.
