Vada Miran (Smith) Fender was born Jan. 14, 1926 outside of Parsons, Kansas to Stella and Frank Smith. The family moved to Tarkio, Mo. where she attended a country school, and then Tarkio High School.
Vada lived in Tarkio most of her life, and then moved to the Lake of the Ozarks area for several years before moving to Rock Port, Mo. She was currently living in a retirement home in Nebraska.
Vada passed away on July 4, 2016 at the age of 90. She was preceded in death by four husbands; mother, Stella, father, Frank; brothers, Ray, Ralph, Harold, Iven, Frank, Dale, Perry, Pearl and Dick Earl; sister, Velma; son, Steve; and step daughter, Nancy Cox.
Surviving loved ones include her children and their spouses, Larry (Sue) Campbell of Raymore, Mo., David (Sarah) Campbell of Lee’s Summit, Mo., and Linda (Bill) Wernecke of Fremont, Neb.; step children, Linda S. (Vernon) Schaeffer of Tarkio, Roxanne (John) Maygar of Montgomery, Penn., Rick (Debbe) Richardson of Villisca, Iowa, and David (Joanne) Fender of Auburn, Neb.; step son-in-law, Dan Cox of Omaha, Neb.; grandchildren, Meredith Campbell, Valerie (Nathan) Hurley, Chris (Laura) Campbell, Tara (Jacob) Allen, Tracy (Steve) Meunier, Tricia Campbell, Jason (Ruth) Campbell, Melanie Campbell, Rachelle (Jason) Brown, Paul Worshan, Pamela Thieme, Brenna Barton, Nick (Khrystahl) Wernecke, Amber (Lane) Sammons, and Macayla Wernecke; 15 step grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and numerous step great grandchildren.
Veda did a lot of traveling, including a couple of cruises to Hawaii and a road trip to the west coast with her girlfriends from the Lake of the Ozarks.
Vada loved bowling, and participated in several state and national tournaments. She lived a good full life. She will be missed by everyone that knew her and that she touched.
