A memorial service was held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2016, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Westboro, Missouri, for Cari Sue Prater of Tarkio. Inurnment was held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 9, at Walkup Grove Cemetery, Fairfax, Missouri. Services were under the direction of Davis Funeral Home.
Cari, the daughter of Richard and Connie (Brummett) Prater, was born November 17, 1973, in Fairfax. She graduated from Tarkio High School in 1992 and attended cosmetology school in Kansas City, Missouri, and Shenandoah, Iowa.
In 1994, Cari was employed as a dispatcher for KAW Liquid Transport, a trucking company in Kansas City. In 2001, Cari was recruited and hired as a dispatcher by Wynne Transport and moved to Omaha, Nebraska. In early 2002, Cari was forced to end her employment due to Multiple Sclerosis and returned to Tarkio, where she lived to the present time. Cari passed away Saturday, July 2, 2016, at an Omaha hospital at the age of 42.
Cari attended a Christian Church in Kansas City, where she was baptized. After returning to Tarkio, Cari attended St. John’s Lutheran Church, Westboro, and was baptized by Rev. Pearson.
Cari was preceded in death by her grandparents. Survivors include her daughter, Catelyn Mackenzi Prater; parents, Richard and Connie Prater, all of Tarkio; sisters, Shaunna (Chad) Sjulin, and their children, Luke and Lilah Sjulin, Springfield, Nebraska, and Kelli (Justin) Wulff, and their children, Aniston and Langdon Wulff, Grain Valley, Missouri; and numerous cousins.
