Watermelon Day Clover Style! By Sam O’Riley, Youth Program Associate-National Watermelon Day is held on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 and the Atchison County 4-H would like to invite all youth 5-7 years to come from 4-6 p.m. and enjoy watermelon games, crafts, and of course to eat watermelon! If you would like to make a reservation for your youth please call the University of Missouri Atchison County Extension Office at 660-744-6231 or e-mail Sam O’Riley at orileys@missouri.edu by July 27. The cost for this event is $5 per youth. If you would like to donate watermelon please contact Sam O’Riley.

Quilt Raffle- The Community Hospital-Fairfax Auxiliary is selling raffle tickets for a beautiful quilt made by Quilters Boutique. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5 and can be purchased at the Sunshine Corner Gift Shop or from any Auxiliary member. The winner will be drawn on August 13 at the Fairfax Fair. All proceeds benefit equipment purchase for Community Hospital-Fairfax.

TACO THURSDAY- Come enjoy some tasty Tacos at the Rock Port Country Club! 99 cent tacos will be served every Thursday from 5:30 p.m. – 9 p.m. “Taco-bout” a great time on Taco Thursdays!

BROWNVILLE HISTORICAL SOCIETY GOLF CLASSIC- The Brownville Historical Society announces the 14th Annual Golf Classic will be held Saturday, August 27, 2016, at the Auburn Country Club. The proceeds of the event will benefit the Preserving Our Past/Protecting Our Future ongoing campaign for preservation efforts.
The 2016 planning committee includes Elaine Knapp, Darrell Kruse, Nick Andrew, Stephanie Fisher, Terry Vice and Bob Chitwood.
The four person best ball tourney provides snacks, luncheon, raffle, auction, putting contest for men and women, hole-N-one prize, flag and team prizes and carts. Cost to be $50 per person or $200 per team. Various sponsorships are available.
