Fairfax Xi Lambda Beta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi is making their plea for all Fairfax youth between the ages of birth through high school to be a part of their portion of the Fairfax Fair this year on Friday evening, August 12 to kick off the first evening of the Fairfax Fair. The sorority wants as many children as possible to help make some more new memories for Fairfax again this year!
The opening ceremonies will begin at 6:20 p.m. on Friday, August 12. Participants from grades one through high school will meet at the northeast end of the park, close to the shelter house, to line up and proceed to the stage. This includes all school age participants. Each participant will receive a prize from Xi Lambda Beta. This event allows for the youth of that age group to be a special part of the Fairfax Fair and is a great kick-off for the weekend activities. For more information concerning the opening ceremonies, call Marilyn Alldredge, 660-686-2495 or 660-744-3146.
The Little Mr. & Miss Fairfax contest is for children 4, 5 and 6 years of age who are in the Fairfax School District and who desire to be candidates for this contest. These contestants will take the stage at 6:30 p.m. sharp to be judged first. This helps save some time, allowing for tallying and readiness for coronation later. Out-of-area judges will be judging this event. Judging for the Queen and Junior Miss contests will be a separate team of judges.
The actual Baby/Youth Show will follow with anyone wishing to share their youths welcome. This is a great time to show off the youth and allow parents, grandparents and the community the opportunity to be proud of our future leaders. All participants need to be pre-registered before that time preferably prior to the evening. Registration sheets will be available at Rays’ Dairy Diner or KG Buds. Pre-registration happen before participants arrive at the park is preferred; however, last minute registration can be completed that evening at the north side of stage in the park by 6 p.m.
First on the agenda will be birth to 6 months category, followed by the following categories: 7 to 11 months, 1 year to 23 months, 2 years to 35 months, 3 years, 4 years, 5 years, and 6 years. Following introductions of all the categories, the Little Mr. & Miss Fairfax candidates will be brought back on the stage for the announcement of the winners and coronation of the 2016 Little Mr. and Miss Fairfax. The new royalty will ride in the parade Saturday morning in a convertible.
Last year’s 2015 Little Mr. & Miss Fairfax, along with last year’s Junior Miss Fairfax, will assist with this year’s event.
