The Rock Port Senior Center~ Stay Connected.
The Rock Port Center has been helping the elderly for over 30 years. While most think of these services are only for those 60 and over, the volunteers and administrator encourage people of all ages to take advantage of everything this program has to offer. Carmen Ellison, the Rock Port Center administrator, wants the community to realize that they provide more than just good, quality meals; they also provide a social atmosphere filled with many planned activities.
Join the Rock Port Center on Monday and Thursday evenings for cards, Wednesdays for Bingo and Tuesdays and Thursdays at lunch for Bridge. Also be on the lookout for the announcements of special events and games that may be offered in the future.
With technology today making it easier for people of all ages to stay indoors and remain antisocial, the Center is the most convenient and sufficient way to stay connected with other people in the community. Our community is gracious to have Carmen and the several volunteers who dedicate their time to keeping the Center up and running. Meals on Wheels is in desperate need of volunteers. There are currently three meal routes. Each route consists of only a few deliveries. The recipients of each meal love to see little kids as well as the adults that deliver. Beyond meals, we provide a lifeline of daily home visits that help ensure the safety and wellness of our neighbors who live alone. Please contact Carmen at 744-5812 to volunteer. The public is encouraged to take full advantage of the meals and activities offered, and to volunteer if able.
