Sing your hearts out to God- Submitted by Pastor by Pastor Rodney Hopper, First Christian Church, Rock Port.

On Sunday, July 17, 2016, the Atchison county community celebrated with a worship service of praise, prayers and scripture. We were blessed by many gifted artists such as: Pastor Bruce Jeffries from the Rock Port United Methodist Church on the piano; The Tarkio Assembly of God Praise Band; Solo and group singing from the Linden Christian Church; and group singing from the Rock Port First Christian Church. Fifty-five people from Atchison County joined together in Mobley Arena at the Fairgrounds to give voices in song praising God – celebrating as one church in Christian Unity. Blessing were given for the week of the Atchison County Fair, encouragement for the youth, and safe travels for the livestock and guests. Then a moment of silence was given on behalf of a young man who appeared to be living without hope and who tragically took the lives of three police officers from their families and wounding several others, one very critically in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Sunday Morning.
The scripture verse for the County Community Worship Service at the Fair was the following:
Colossians 3:12-17 The Message Bible (MSG) “So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it. Let the peace of Christ keep you in tune with each other, in step with each other. None of this going off and doing your own thing. And cultivate thankfulness. Let the Word of Christ—the Message—have the run of the house. Give it plenty of room in your lives. Instruct and direct one another using good common sense. And sing, sing your hearts out to God! Let every detail in your lives—words, actions, whatever—be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step of the way.”
Vicki Cook said, “It was great to come together as ONE church without any denominational barriers. The music was great and very uplifting. We have some good people and some great talent in our small community.”
May you have a great week at the Atchison County Fair and don’t forget to support the youth of our community along with thanking the Fair Board for their dedication and time.
