On Saturday, August 13, a benefit poker run is being held in honor of Eric Adams to help raise money for hospital bills. Adams, 55, recently suffered a stroke and is being cared for in Madonna. He grew up in Peru, Nebraska. It was there, he became high school sweethearts with Pam (Simmons) Adams and they were married in 1981. Together they have 3 kids and 3 grandkids, Lee Adams (son) and his daughter Harley Adams, Joni (daughter) and Andrew Falk and their kids Sophie and Casey, Jeni (daughter) and Nathan Seitz.
According to Jeni’s recolection, Eric started in 1984 as a dispatcher and jailer at the Nemaha County Sheriffs Office, till 1988, 1988-1991 Deputy Sheriff for Nemaha County, 1991-2012, estimating, he worked for Auburn Police Dept. During that time, he did hold a position as Sargent of the Police force for about 7 to 8 years. 2012 to current he is a Nemaha County Deputy Sheriff.
His daughter, Jeni states, “As his daughter, I have seen this community come together in support of my father. He is a very well respected man here. He has been a hero to our family for many years but it wasn’t until recently that I realized my father was a hero and some say an icon of this community. Another reason to be a proud daughter of his.”
If you would like to show support or participate in this event registration begins at 11 a.m. at the Southside Saloon in Auburn, Ne, where a free-will lunch will be available. The route includes: Village Tavern in Elk Creek, Still Centerfield in Shubert, TJ’s in Brownville, Zach’s Bar in Peru and Hickory Road BBQ in Auburn.
A live auction will begin at 5 p.m. with many great prizes will be available. A free-will pork meal will be served at 5:30 p.m.
