The Rock Port High School dancers attended a Universal Dance Association camp on July 18-21 at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, Nebraska. Dancers attending were, Row 1: Catyn Chamberlain, Abbie Hale (Co-Captain), Jentry Freemyer (Co-Captain) and Brooklyn Jakub. Row 2: Kelcie Gaines, Hallee Bradley, Ashley Christian, Hannah Miller, Beth Davis and Ashley Cue. Jentry Freemyer tried out for All-American Dancer and received the All-American award along with 20 other girls at camp. These girls were sponsored by Mrs. Kathy Ungles, dance coach.
Sixteen squads, fourteen school, and 187 girls were in attendance at the UDA camp. They learned several dances in the four day camp and were evaluated on their individual performances. These dances included: jazz, kick, pom, and hip hop. They also had technique classes that helped the girls improve their basic turns, stunts, leaps, and jumps. They received 24 blue ribbons, 6 red ribbons, the spirit stick each day, each girl brought home a gold ribbon for drill downs, and they brought home a Superior Trophy for their ribbons they earned at camp.
