The Tarkio Branch of the Atchison County Library had the last week of the Summer Reading Program on July 26-28, 2016.
Markie Sundermann read to her three and four year olds “Hop on Pop” by Dr. Seuss, “Pete the Cat Play Ball!” by James Dean, “Construction” by Sally Sutton, “Fancy Nancy” by Jane O’Connor, and “Marvel Heroes” by Caleb Burroughs. The kids enjoyed looking for and finding hidden characters and objects.
For the last session of the five and six year olds, Brooke Walton read “Koala Lou” by Mem Fox. Other activities included the parachute game, snacks, and outside water play.
Jan Taylor’s 1st and 2nd graders read book #4 in the Soccer Cats “Hat Trick” by Matt Christopher. They played “Museum Museum.”
All children enjoyed receiving participation certificates, little gifts, and two new books provided by the Atchison County Library. They were also given ice cream certifiates from Torrey Pines by Nick White, pizza certificates from Pizza Hut, and cookies from Hy-Vee. The library would like to say thanks to all those who donated to the summer reading program and to all of the volunteers that invested their time into the children of this community. Thank you Taylor McCartney, Markie Sundermann, Brooke Walton, Jan Taylor, and Bob Austin. It was greatly appreciated!
