The Atchison County Farm Bureau Annual Meeting was held at 6:30 p.m. on August 4, at the Velma Houts Fair Building in Rock Port. Torrey Pines of Tarkio catered the dinner prior to the meeting. There were 48 people who attended.
Matt Schlueter, Board President, welcomed all attendees and introduced this year’s guest speaker.
Ben Travlos, from Ashland Mo, is a member of the Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council. He started off his presentation by expressing his love for soccer, which he said can actually be related to Ag Policy. Travlos said while explaining this relation, “Those moments in which we “score,” those are the moments that are glorious. Those are the moments in which we realize our hard work has been worth it.”
Travlos completed his presentation by filling in the meeting attendants with the different wins and loses the soybean and biodiesel agricultural areas have seen lately. He strongly believes that all sides of agriculture need to come together as a team if they wish to continue the growth and improvement of all agriculture departments.
The meeting continued with the approval of last year’s minutes, followed by the treasurer’s report. President, Matt Schlueter finished the business side of the meeting by explaining the process of the approval of the resolutions.
The meeting was adjourned after door prizes were given.
