On August 4, 2016, at approximately 3:05 p.m., the Tarkio Police Department conducted a traffic stop for a lane violation or driving on the wrong side of the roadway in the 1100 and 1200 block of Pine Street, Tarkio. Patrick Martin, 41, of Tarkio was arrested for suspicion of Driving While Intoxicated. Prior to contacting Martin, 911 dispatch had relayed information of a careless and imprudent driver driving northbound, south of Fairfax, Missouri, which is approximately eight miles south of Tarkio on U.S. Highway 59. The vehicle license plate information given by the reporting party also matched Martin’s vehicle. Following his arrest, Martin was taken to the Atchison County Sheriff’s Office for further testing and was held on three counts, DWI, Open Container, and Lane Violation or Driving On The Wrong Side of the Roadway. Martin’s blood alcohol concentration at the time of the test was .184. It is illegal in the State of Missouri to drive with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .08 or above. Martin was provided a court date of August 29, 2016, at 5 p.m. for an initial appearance in the Tarkio Municipal Court.
