The Fairfax Fair, sponsored by the Fairfax Optimist Club, kicked off with the baby show and the crowning of Little Mr. and Miss Fairfax. Little Miss Fairfax is Liberty Stikeleather, daughter of Crystal and Aaron Stikeleather. Little Mr. Fairfax was Tyler Brown, son of John and Cheryl Brown.
Harry and Mary Combs were this year’s Fairfax Fair Parade Marshals.
Shelby Zirfas was crowned Miss Fairfax 2006. She was also named Miss Congeniality. Junior Miss Fairfax 2006 is Jill Riley.
Terry and Harry Wooten, Fairfax, are the parents of a daughter, Alyson Nicole, born August 17, 2006, at Community Hospital Association in Fairfax.

August 29, 1991
School opened last Wednesday at Fairfax R-3 with the following enrollment: kindergarten, 16; first grade, 15; second grade, 19; third grade, 19; fourth grade, 20; fifth grade, 24; sixth grade, 16; seventh grade, 24; eighth grade, 17; freshmen, 23; sophomores, 15; juniors, 13; and seniors, 20.
Keith and Roseann Nemyer, Fairfax, are the parents of a son, Keison Michael, born August 21, at Bishop Clarkson Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska.
Jennifer Rader, Fairfax, was one of 600 boys and girls selected to give a demonstration in the 4-H Building at the Missouri State Fair.

August 25, 1966
The yard of Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Moore has been selected as “Lawn of the Month” for August and displays the Garden Club sign.
Classes will begin Thursday, August 25, at Fairfax R-III Schools. The new lunch room will not be completely finished by school opening, but will be usable. An increase in the price of lunch this year will put the cost to 30¢ for students, and 35¢ for adults.
Mrs. Yvonne Thiesfeld has leased the Johnson Cafe and will open for business Monday under the name “Long Branch Cafe.”
R.L. Blackman of Tarkio, who is largely responsible for cable TV in Atchison County, has sold his interest to United Transmission, Inc., with headquarters in Kansas City.
