Rock Port R-2 School opens with a record of 702 students. This is 106 students more than the 1964-1965 school year.
Missouri Beef Packers reached a new goal August 18, when they ran 1,521 head of cattle through the kill floor. The previous high was 1,520.

A power failure in Rock Port on August 25, was caused by a birds nest which shorted out a fuse and caused power into Rock Port from the Atchison-Holt Electric Co-Opertative to be shut off.

August 21, 1986
The Carp I Tournament was held on August 16 and 17. There were 44 boats with 121 fishermen participating. Two days of fishing yielded 264 fish with a total weight of 758.9 pounds.

August 22, 1996
On August 25 Everette and Carol Underwood celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Melinda Wilson of Rock Port has signed a letter of intent to play volleyball and softball at Huron University in Huron, South Dakota.

August 24, 2006
Abby Bradley, Hannah Crow, and Jackie Bradley held a lemonade stand to raise money for the local food pantry. The girls raised $37.50 from the stand. All of the funds were given to the local food pantry. Taya Lewis, Josie Crow and Emily Graham held a car wash the same day and raised $21 that also went to the food pantry.
