John Gilbert is a member of the U.S. Men’s Wheelchair Basketball Team that will compete in the Rio 2016 Paralympics September 7 – 18, 2016. Gilbert, a graduate of Fairfax R-3 School, is the only Missourian on the team. Twelve men’s and 10 women’s basketball teams will battle for medals at Rio.
In an interview with Jennifer Meckles, KSDK-TV in St. Louis, Missouri, Gilbert said, “The U.S. hasn’t won a gold medal in a long time in wheelchair basketball and it’s about time.”
The Paralympic Games kick off Wednesday, September 7. The schedule for the games, which will be televised on NBCSN (unless otherwise noted) is as follows:
