Several award winning wines will be featured amongst the 12 wineries participating in Missouri’s Great Northwest Wine Fest, scheduled for September 24 in Mound City’s North Griffith Park. Plans are all coming together nicely for this seventh annual event, to be held from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m. This event is Northwest Missouri Enterprise Facilitation’s (NWMEF) biggest fundraiser. It will offer a fun-filled afternoon and evening at this beautiful fall setting next to Mound City Development Corporation’s vineyards.
Many food booths will be presenting their delights. Other foods to be featured are homemade breads, grape pies, jams, jellies and more, all afternoon and evening. A gourmet sit-down dinner will be served from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the shelter house. A full bar to include domestic beers will also be offered in the shelter house.
A wide variety of artisan booths will be distribed around the park for the entirety of the day’s activities. Northwest Missouri Enterprise Facilitation board members are also offering two drawings.
Outstanding entertainment will fill the air on stage located close to the vineyards. Celebrity guest artist, Matt Snook of “The Voice” will be featured, along with other returning musicians: Devon and Mikaela Sons, Maryville; Esther Laurie Rardan, Platte City; The Saranades from Mound City; and Frank Rardon, Kansas City.
“Grape stompings” and view of the vineyards will occur in the afternoon. Admission is $20 a person which includes samplings and an etched glass; $10 for non-consumers and minors; and $5 for children 10 and under. Proceeds from this fundraising event go toward the continuation of Northwest Missouri Enterprise Facilitation’s free, confidential business coaching in the counties of Atchison, Andrew, Gentry, Holt, Nodaway, and Worth. NWMEF assists in starting up new businesses and entrepreneurships through the service of its knowledgeable facilitator, Keli Morris. In the last 10 years, 83 businesses have been started and retained in Northwest Missouri. The business coaching is confidential and free each time used.
