The Jays move to 3-0 on the season with the win on Friday night against the Stewartsville Cardinals 64-8.
It was an offensive and defensive show for the Jays. Offensively five different player scored a touchdown with Tyler Jones leading the way with three, Gavin Abbott, Ryan Dewhirst and Brock Martin all had one a piece. Caden Linthicum brought a punt back for a touchdown.
Defensively Rock Port had 45 tackles only allowing 4 first downs. Leading tacklers: Tyler Jones 8, Trenton Oswald and Quentin Carder 7, Carter Ottmann and Dalton Brake 5, Ryan Dewhirst 4, and Noah Makings 3. Two pick six one by Caden Linthicum and one by Quentin Carder. Three sacks, two by Quentin Carder and one by Carter Ottmann.
The biggest hurdle the Jays need to work on is penalties. Rock Port had 105 yards in penalties, this is way to many when we get to the second half of the season.
Homecoming is this week and the Jays take on Northwest Nodaway. They are 1-2 on the season. They will be hungry and looking for an upset here on Friday night. The Muskets are a passing team and will give our defensive backs a workout. The defensive has been playing well and with good pressure it should be tough to get the ball off.
Good luck. Go Big Blue!
