Atchison County Development Corporation Board Meeting was held September 16, 2016.
Present: WC Farmer, Jeff Meyer, Craig Corken, Eryn Stepp, Lori Seymour, Lydia Hurst, Scott Melvin, Bob Alldredge. Also Present: Monica Bailey, Carol Clark
Call to Order by Farmer.
Minutes: Alldredge moved to approve the minutes as presented. Meyer seconded and all approved.
Financials:
• Alldredge presented the financial reports. Seymour moved and Hurst seconded to approve the financials as presented. All approved.
• Group reviewed ACDC’s accounts and CDs. Melvin moved to cash CD #5210006492 ($63,085.84 at Bank Midwest) and transfer those funds into the primary checking account. Corken seconded and all approved.
• Signature cards for Farmers State Bank accounts need to be updated. The following motions were made:
• Seymour moved to delete Showalter from FSB checking account #302139. Hurst seconded and all approved.
• Melvin moved to add Alldredge, Bailey and Corken to FSB CD #337702. Meyer seconded and all approved.
• Stepp moved to add Bailey, Corken and Farmer to FSB CD #45250. Alldredge seconded and all approved.
• Melvin moved to continue requiring only one signature to access the lock box. Hurst seconded and all approved.
Director Report
• Website: Bailey spoke highly of the current status of the ACDC website. Various aspects of the site are highlighted in the upcoming newsletter and in newspaper articles.
• ACDC Youth Events for the 2016-2017 school year:
• For Freshmen, new this year: Explore AC, May 2017 (modeled after the afternoon portion of the Youth Professionalism Workshop).
• For Juniors: 3rd Annual Youth Professionalism Workshop, scheduled for Monday, November 17, 2016. New this year, Job Shadowing Day, March 2017 (this will provide two opportunities for high school students to try out an Atchison County career).
• For Seniors: Job Shadowing Day, April 2017.
Old Business
• Annual Meeting, Oct. 5, 6:30pm, Fairfax School: Awardees and new businesses were confirmed. Seymour motioned to provide travel expenses and a $250 stipend to this year’s guest speaker, Becky Cleveland from Brookfield. Stepp seconded and all approved.
New Business
• Election of Officers: Melvin moved to re-elect the current slate of officers (Farmer, President; Corken,Vice President; Alldredge,Treasurer; Seymou,-Secretary). Meyer seconded and all approved.
• Shop AC Night – November 17: ACDC is coordinating a Shop AC/Open Late shopping night on Thurs., Nov. 17, until 8pm. Board was encouraged to think of retailers that might want to participate. This will be a free advertising/marketing opportunity for any retail business or restaurant that wants to participate.
• NWMEF support request: Northwest Missouri Enterprise Facilitation submitted their annual request for support of their free and confidential small business services. In previous years, ACDC has donated $1 for each person in Atchison County. Following this model, Seymour motioned that ACDC donate $5,306 to support NWMEF efforts in Atchison County and throughout the region. Meyer seconded and all approved.
Melvin moved to adjourn. Stepp seconded. All approved.
