A Hunter Education Skills Class will be offered Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at the Velma Houts Fair Building in Rock Port, Missouri. The class will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will conclude at 9:30 p.m. Students must be 11 years of age and have completed the knowledge session of the course to register and attend this Hunter Education skills course.
NOTE: Missouri’s Hunter Education Certification Program is now a two part program: the knowledge session and skills session. Students will be required to complete and pass the knowledge session of the course before they can register and attend this skills session class.
The knowledge session of the course can be completed in one of three ways:
1. Hunter Education Online – The convenient online/mobile course is adapted to those with sight and hearing difficulties. It includes text, audio, images, graphs, videos, and interactive animation to help you complete all the chapter reviews. You MUST complete all the chapter reviews in order to receive your skills-session qualifier certificate, which you MUST show (bring a printed copy or display the PDF on your mobile device) to enter the skills session in step two. The online hunter education course can be found at http://www.hunter-ed.com/missouri/.
2. Self-study guide – Order a study guide by phone from an MDC office. Then study the illustrated guide, complete all chapter reviews, and present your completed guide at the skills session in step two. Call the Northwest Regional Office in St. Joseph at 816-271-3100.
3. Classroom – Register and attend a four-hour classroom session featuring lectures and videos. You MUST attend the complete session in order to receive your skills-session qualifier certificate from the instructors, which you MUST show to enter the skills session in step two.
Once the knowledge session has been completed, students may then register for the skills session. All registrations must be completed online. Students will be required to bring proof of age (i.e. birth certificate) to the skills session.
