Welcome back everyone! Fall has arrived. The October 3 meeting of the Fairfax Sorosis was held in the basement of the Methodist Church. President Judy Holtz brought the meeting to order and Georgia Gilley proceeded to lead us in singing the Sorosis song. We are improving on our performance.
Roll call was answered by 11 members with sharing a special fun time with a friend. Summer appeared to be good to all. The reading of the last meeting’s minutes were approved with no corrections or additions.
The treasurer reported that we have a balance of $137.96. Dues of $15 per person were collected as well as $10 each for the lunch which was prepared by Janice Ray.
There was no old business. The new business began with the reading and reviewing of the new booklets for the 2016-2017 year to make sure e-mail addresses and cell phone numbers were correct. This also allowed each new officer to become familiar with the required duties and responsibilities of her job.
Karen Rogers requested inactive status. It was decided that the hostess for the meeting/program would be responsible for purchasing a gift for the program provider in the amount of $12-$15.
The critic’s report was a joke about “remembering” since we told a story about a friend and a special time.
A summer safari was taken to Brownville to see “Forever Plaid” which had rave reviews by those in attendance.
Our next meeting will be October 17 with “bring a guest day.” A note was sent to Janet Griffin to invite the Rock Port Sorosis group. John Brown will provide our program on EMT personnel. The first half of our members are to bring 1-1/2 dozen cookies.
We read the Bon Mot and the collect. There being no other reports or concerns, the meeting was adjourned.
