Three East Atchison Lady Golfers competed in the Missouri State High School Athletic Association Girls’ Golf Championships at Meadow Lake Acres in New Bloomfield, Missouri, Monday and Tuesday, October 10 and 11, 2016.
Lauren Quimby had a great showing at state and finished in a tie for 28th with a final score of 182 (93 and 89). Bree Barnett tied for 53rd with a final score of 196 (100 and 96). Kaely Kirwan finished 81st with a final score of 218 (107 and 111).
“I was very proud of the girls for the season they had this year,” said EA Coach Aaron Behrens. He went on to say, “It was great being able to watch them win Districts and compete like they did at Sectionals as a team. Bree, Lauren, and Kaely represented very well at the state tournament and it was a good culmination for all of the hard work they put in over the off season as well as during the year.”
“Lauren finished tied for 28th at the state tournament which was a great accomplishment considering the immense competition that the girls faced. She has worked very hard over the last year to improve her game both physically and mentally and it is great seeing that pay off as much as it did during the post season. She is in line for great things come next year.”
“Bree ended up tied for 53rd and was able to end her golf career by making it to state the last two years. It’s been a blast coaching her the past two seasons. She had a great season start to finish this year, as she was medalist in multiple tournaments and matches. We will miss her leadership and ability going forward.”
“Kaely made it to state as a sophomore, which not a lot of girls are able to do. She competed hard and has shown much improvement throughout the year. I am looking forward to big things from her next year.”
