The Fairfax FCCLA chapter gained seven new members this fall. They are: Leslie Bradley and Tacy Mitchell, juniors; McKenzie Frohn, Jaycee Graves, Jesse Graves, Jaelynn Hill, and Morgan O’Riley, freshmen.
The new members had an initiation day October 3, 2016. It started with breakfast in the family and consumer sciences classroom with dress up of all new initiates. This year’s theme was “Mickey Mouse” with Leslie as Pete, Tacy as Pluto, McKenzie as Minnie Mouse, Jaelynn as Donald Duck, Jaycee as Goofy, Morgan as Daisy, and Jesse as Mickey Mouse. When addressed during the day the initiates had a phrase they had to respond with. Besides skipping around the track they also sang their theme song during lunch for the student body.
The FCCLA officers conducted the formal initiation ceremony October 5, in the FCS room for the new initiates, parents and guests. After the new members were inducted, everyone enjoyed refreshments of cake and punch.
This year’s officers are as follows: Goldie Barnes, president; Audrae Bates, vice-president; Chaos Powers, secretary; Caitlyn O’Riley, treasurer; Katy Baker, reporter; and Skye Clark, historian. The FCCLA chapter looks forward to the coming year with their new members.
