Reed Miller was chosen to try on all of the bunker gear that the fireman wear during a fire. Total weight is around 70 to 80 pounds.

Each year during the month of October members of the Rock Port Volunteer Fire Department put on an assembly in the elementary to talk about things they can do to help prevent fires.
Steve Shineman, Drake Daugherty and W. C. Farmer talked about the importance of checking the smoke detector batteries in the home, going over an escape route and what to do once they are outside the house. The students also learned which number to call in the event on an emergency and what to tell the operator when they answer.
Following the assembly the students were taken outside where they were able to see one of the six trucks that Rock Port has in its fleet.
