A group of Fairfax sophomores plan to travel to Europe next spring. They will visit the cities of Amsterdam, Brussels and Paris. Those students are Chase Ilsley, Amanda Yocum, Kristi Sons, Luke Moore, Dustin Ross, and Devin Adams. Their sponsor is Nicole Miller.
The Fairfax Kiwanis Club is sponsoring “Honoring Our Heritage of Founding Businesses” in conjunction with the 125th anniversary of Fairfax’s founding. Businesses and their employees are asked to dress in period clothing.
This week’s football player of the week is Jim Bradbury, and the volleyball player of the week is Chelsea Miller.
Dr. James Hunter of Fairfax was chosen as Employee of the Month for October, 2006, at Community Hospital Association.

October 24, 1991
The Fairfax Community Betterment was awarded first place in their division at the convention held in Columbia Monday night. Community Betterment chairman Jim Brown and several others from Fairfax were present to receive the award.
Shelley McMahon is the new business teacher at Fairfax R-III School. She teaches Accounting, General Business, Typing, Office Technology, and Junior High Keyboarding.
The Lady Dogs’ volleyball team defeated the Mound City Panthers in two sets, 15-4 and 15-2. Leading scorer for the night was Beth Lewis with 11 points. Kenna Osburn and Kelly Sites each had four assists, and Pepé Cooper and Beth Lewis each had two spikes.

October 20, 1966
A large crowd attended the Fairfax R-III School open house and dedication ceremonies for the new cafeteria. Superintendent Herndon gave special recognition to S.J. Peterson, who supervised construction of the cafeteria addition without remuneration.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Kemerling of Fairfax are the parents of a daughter, Julie Christine, born October 15 at the Fairfax Community Hospital.
The first hard frost of the season came Saturday night, bringing an end to late vegetable and flower gardens.
A Community Betterment victory supper will be held October 27 at the school cafeteria to celebrate the winning of the first place award.
Homecoming at Tarkio College will be centered around the theme “King Arthur and His Court.”
The Fairfax Bulldogs pushed their winning streak to six ball games as they defeated Nodaway-Holt 19-0. Hustle shirts were awarded to Bob Irvine and Gary Hawkins.
