Walter Lawrence Noftsger, a resident of Berryville, Arkansas, was born July 8, 1919, in Lamoni, Iowa, the son of Emmett Noftsger and Melissa Williams. He passed away September 28, 2016, at the age of 97 years.
Walter proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II.
On August 31, 1940, he was united in marriage to Helen Ruth (Fisher) Noftsger, who survives him. Walter and Ruth celebrated their 76th wedding anniversary this year. He is also survived by son, Greg Noftsger of Berryville, Arkansas; Randy Noftsger and wife, Glenda of Lakewood, Colorado; daughter, Sharon Powers and husband, Jim of Parker, Colorado; Marilyn Mottershaw and husband, Joe of Parker, Colorado; Laurie Anderson of Surprise, Arizona; daughter-in-law, Desi Noftsger of Berryville, Arkansas; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, a host of friends and loved ones.
He is preceded in death by his father, Emmett Noftsger; mother, Melissa Williams; step-father, Walter McKean; son, Walter “Larry” Noftsger, Jr.; four brothers, two sisters, two grandsons and one granddaughter.
