National Honor Society- by Goldie Barnes
The National Honor Society held their first meeting on Wednesday, October 5. The new sponsor for NHS is Shelby Hurst.
During the meeting the members elected officers. They are: Mason Straub, president; Dakota Allen, vice-president; Alyssa Garrison, secretary; Brody Cooper, treasurer; Goldie Barnes, reporter; Leslie Bradley, parliamentarian; and Tacy Mitchell, historian.
The group talked about Red Ribbon Week, which will be held October 24-28. The dress-up days for this week are: Monday – Wear your PJ’s, Tuesday – Dress As Your Favorite Decade, Wednesday – Famous Movie Couples Day, Thursday – Shades, Hat and Tie Day, and Friday – Green and Red Day.

Marching Band- by Katy Baker
This year, the Fairfax Marching Pride has marched in Nebraska City, Hamburg, and Clarinda. The first parade of the year (Hamburg), the band came home with a second place trophy. Fairfax Marching Pride is looking forward to a successful year and making more memories.

Junior high started basketball practice on October 3. The practices have been held at Tarkio Rec Center. This year there are 19 players on the junior high team. This is the second year that Fairfax and Tarkio have been combined for junior high basketball.
