Red Ribbon Week is observed the last week of October each year. The drug and alcohol awareness event promotes a drug-free lifestyle for our youth.
Dress-up days at Fairfax R-3 School are: Monday – Drugs Are a Total Monday (pajamas); Tuesday – Dress As Your Favorite Decade; Wednesday – Famous Couples Day; Thursday – Shades, Hats, & Ties; Friday – Green and Red Day (Christmas).
The Buchanan County Drug Task Force will present a program for students in sixth through 12th grades at an assembly Thursday, October 27.
Elementary students will complete Red Ribbon Week homework with their parents to get the conversation started about drug and alcohol abuse. The students will earn chances for Red Ribbon Week prizes with their completed homework. Drawings will be held Friday during lunch time.
Teachers and students are also decorating their doors with drug-free sayings and the whole school will be signing a banner as they pledge to be drug-free.
