Cameron L. Owen, age 14 of rural Hamburg, Iowa passed away on Monday evening; October 24, 2016 at the Grape Community Hospital in Hamburg, Iowa.
Cameron Lee Owen was born on September 13, 2002 in Omaha, Nebraska; the son of Randy Allen and Lora Lea (Gubser) Owen. He attended school in Hamburg and was currently in the 8th grade at the Hamburg Community Middle School.
Cam was active in the Washington P.E.P. 4-H Club and he participated in football, wrestling and cross country. He was one who loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing, camping, kayaking, scuba diving, mushroom hunting, boating, welding and four wheeling. Even at his young age, he had a passion for farming and for his sheep. He enjoyed Ag Class and Woodworking Class on Friday’s at school and was in the Bell Choir and Confirmation Class at St. John’s Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his parents Randy and Lora Lea Owen of Hamburg, Iowa; his brother Connor Owen of the home; maternal grandparents: Marlin and Sherry Gubser of Rock Port, Mo.; paternal grandparents: Nancy and the late Charles Owen of Hamburg; great-grandmother Lucile Thompson of Rock Port, Mo.; aunts and uncles: Patricia Limpert and husband Jonathan of St. Louis, Mo., Travis Gubser and wife Mindy of Rock Port, Mo., Debbie Lechner and husband Bob of Nebraska City, Neb. and Steve Owen and wife Dee of Farragut, Iowa; cousins: Robbie and Tyler Lechner, Alexis McQueen, Brody Owen, Piper and Shea Limpert and Mason and Elsie Gubser; other family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandpa Charles Owen on September 18, 2016.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, October 28, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Westboro, Mo. with Rev. F.J. Brandenburg officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. Zion (Utterback) Cemetery at rural Hamburg.
Memorials may be given to the Washington P.E.P. 4-H Club, Hamburg Community School – Student Senate, Hamburg Community School – Scuba Diving or Hamburg Community School – Outdoor Education.
