AHEC Employees Jeremiah Drew (Left) and Garrett Green (Right), get their gear together for the events.

The 33rd Annual International Lineman’s Rodeo was held on Saturday, October 15th, 2016 in Bonner Springs, Kansas. Kansas City Power & Light and Westar Energy were the host utilities. The Lineman’s Rodeo attracts the best linemen from around the world to compete in events based on traditional lineman tasks and skills. The first Lineman’s Rodeo was held in September 1984, with twelve participating teams from Kansas and Missouri. The Rodeo has grown to over 200 teams and 250 apprentices.
Atchison Holt Electric Cooperative Apprentice Employees Jeremiah Drew and Garrett Green participated in the Rodeo. Events Jeremiah and Garrett participated in were the Apprentice Written test, Hurtman Rescue, Pole Climb and two mystery events. AHEC is excited to have had employees Jeremiah and Garrett participate in the International Event. The Rodeo is a great experience for all linemen. Hopefully next year, AHEC will have employees participating again.
