East Atchison Wolves continue to rack up the points- The East Atchison Jr. High Basketball Teams competed against West Nodaway on October 31, 2016, in Fairfax, Missouri. Both EA teams won their games.
In girls’ basketball action, the EA Lady Wolves won their game 52-6. Morgan Parshall led EA with 15 points (one three-pointer), followed closely behind by her sister, Mercedes Parshall, with 11 points (three three-pointers). Also adding to the Lady Wolves’ score were Brynnan Poppa with eight points, Olivia Morris with six points, Ella Rolf with four points, and Cheyenne Gray, Autumn Murry, Bryli Staten, and Haley Garrison with two points each.
In the boys’ game, the Wolves were on the prowl and took the win with a final score of 58-28. Kaden Cooper led EA with 24 points, followed closely behind by Ian Hedlund with 17. Also adding points to the Wolves’ score were Aaron Schlueter with seven, Carter Holecek with four, Kaylin Merriweather with three, Bo Graves with two, and Josh Smith with one.
Boys’ coach Robbie Bates commented, “This was a very solid game. We had a slow start, but our depth took over in the 2nd half and we outscored them 42-18 in the final two periods.”
Wolves B Teams host West Nodaway and Platte Valley- The East Atchison Jr. High Basketball B Teams competed against Platte Valley and West Nodaway on Tuesday, November 1, 2016, in Fairfax, Missouri.
The Lady Wolves lost to Platte Valley 23-26. Alexis Brown led the Lady Wolves with eight points, followed closely by Olivia Morris and Haley Garrison with six points each. Also adding to EA’s score were Morgan Shaw with two points and Sophia Martin with one point (1 for two free throws).
The Wolves lost to West Nodaway 24-30. Adam Phillips scored 19 points (one three pointer) for East Atchison and Deondre Hughes added five points (one three-pointer). Wolves’ coach Robbie Bates said, “The kids are learning how hard they have to play. They also are trying to carry over practice skills to the game.”

In girls’ basketball action, the Lady Wolves defeated the Lady Panthers 53-13. Morgan Parshall was on a roll, scoring 29 of East Atchison’s 53 points (three for three free throws and six three-pointers). Cheyenne Gray and Autumn Murry added four points each. Ashlynn Meyer scored three points (one for two free throws), Olivia Morris added three points (one for two free throws), Jayden VanZant added three points (one for two free throws), and Mercedes Parshall scored three points (one three pointer). Haley Garrison and Sophia Martin added two points each.

The kids will learn from the loss and be better next week.”
Christmas dances- The Tarkio Jr. High and High School Christmas dances will be held Saturday, December 10, at the Tarkio Community Building. The Jr. High Ball will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. and the High School Ball will be held from 9 to 11 p.m. Dress is business casual. Refreshments will be provided. Free will donations will be accepted at both dances with half the money going toward sponsoring a family for Christmas.
