Sometimes it’s the little things in life that touch you the most. The Junior High basketball team played East Atchison in Tarkio last Thursday. As I was walking by a group of the EA basketball girls a Mom stopped me and said you might want to get a picture of this. Not sure what was going on, I noticed the girls patiently waiting outside the visiting team’s locker room. As Makenna came out of the locker room they all huddled around her and gave her some flowers and balloons. They all wished her good luck on her upcoming surgery on her knee. As a parent it was touching to witness this gesture as they took the time to show Makenna they cared. To the parents, you should be proud of all of them, I know I was. Thank you girls for putting a smile on her face, it meant more than you will ever know.

Veterans Day was November 11, I was able to take in the assembly that was held where Ken Lucas was the guest speaker. Ken shared his experience during the time he served in the Navy. Afterwards I spoke to several of the service men and women who gave their time to serve our great country and thanked them. This was especially hard for me this year as I reflected on my father’s time in the Army and wish I could tell him one more time how proud I was of him. Again, THANK YOU to all the service men and women who served giving of their time, and in some cares their life, for our great country.
