This weeks featured home is: The Taylor home was purchased from Thomas and Susan Rutledge in December of 1999, with records showing a possible 1900 build date. Deeds can be traced back to Lee S. Pemberton and Juanita Beaty Pemberton, who sold the home to Arthur Lister, Jr. and Frances Opp Lister in January of 1965. The home was then sold to the Rutledges in January of 1991. Jenny Thomas recalled the home being an apartment at one time with the second story as such, where she lived for a time.
The Taylors transformed the original home from a colonial look by adding a wraparound porch to the front and side of the home shortly after purchase.
2014 brought a complete remodel of the home, including a new kitchen, master bath, and half bath and laundry room. The layout of the first floor gave way for a master bedroom, entry way, dining room and study. The old brick fireplace in the lower family room was resurfaced with a new mantel and tiled by Susette’s brother giving the family room a fresh new look. Closing off an inside stairway to the basement finished off the family room. The Taylors enjoy the wide variety of outdoor seating and the addition of a new two-car garage in 2015 have completed the remodel.
The upstairs has three bedrooms and a bath that will not be open to the tour due to the stairs.
Our home has a simple elegant feel, but is comfortable and cozy. We are excited to share it with you this holiday season, but do caution that there are a lot of steps getting into and out of this home, so please be careful.
